Cleat with Top Leg
Cleat with Top Leg is a specialized fastening profile designed to securely anchor metal flashings and coping caps while offering enhanced structural support. The added top leg creates a continuous surface for flashing engagement, improving alignment and sealing. This design makes it ideal for high-wind areas or systems requiring extra stability along parapet walls and roof edges.
The top leg provides a mechanical catch for flashings, helping maintain their position over time. It also simplifies installation by guiding the metal into place, reducing the chance of movement or misalignment. Because it reinforces the attachment point, the cleat with top leg adds strength to coping caps, gravel stops, and fascia trims where standard cleats may fall short.
We fabricate these cleats from .032, .040, or .050 aluminum, 24ga or 26ga steel, and 16 oz. copper, ensuring compatibility with the flashings they support. Each cleat is available in a Kynar 500® finish, offering outstanding protection against corrosion, fading, and UV exposure. The result is a fastening solution that performs under harsh conditions while blending seamlessly with other metal components.
Custom-formed to suit specific dimensions and profiles, cleats with top legs can include optional hems or punched holes to streamline installation.
