Pitch pockets provide a reliable solution for sealing roof penetrations that standard flashings cannot accommodate. These penetrations often include conduits, supports, cable bundles, or irregular shapes. Therefore, pitch pockets create a controlled enclosure that allows sealants or pourable compounds to surround the penetration completely.
Because roofs constantly expand and contract, pitch pockets help manage movement effectively. As a result, they reduce stress at vulnerable penetration points. Additionally, their adaptable design supports both new construction and retrofit applications without compromising waterproofing integrity.
We fabricate each pitch pocket from galvanized steel, stainless steel, or aluminum. Furthermore, we assemble every unit using iron-soldered seams, which provide exceptional strength and long-term watertight performance. This soldered construction ensures durability even in demanding environments.
To support different installation conditions, pitch pockets are available fully closed or with one corner left open. The open-corner option allows installers to slide the unit around existing penetrations without disassembly. Consequently, on-site installation becomes faster and more efficient. Once positioned, installers can easily close and seal the open corner.
Each pitch pocket forms a vertical-walled reservoir designed to hold approved pitch or pourable sealant. This containment system protects penetrations from water intrusion while allowing controlled movement. Moreover, optional interior liners improve compatibility with single-ply membranes and fluid-applied roofing systems.
Since penetration layouts vary widely, we custom-size every pitch pocket. This approach ensures proper clearance while maintaining effective sealing depth. In addition, we offer square and rectangular configurations to suit grouped penetrations or structural supports.
Contractors frequently choose pitch pockets for their flexibility and serviceability. For example, they allow future access when penetrations change. Likewise, maintenance crews can re-seal without removing surrounding roof materials. Therefore, pitch pockets extend the service life of the roofing system.
